Sina Shekou, CEO, Aptly (Moderator)

Sina Shekou is co-founder and CEO of Aptly. Prior to Aptly he was an SVP at RealPage, running the LeaseStar Division. Mr. Shekou co-founded Propertyware, the first cloud-based property management, which sold to RealPage in 2009. He is a 20-year veteran of the software industry having worked at Oracle Corporation and an early team member of Salesforce.com where he pioneered cloud computing and the web-based software model. He has been involved in the real estate industry for more than two decades as an active board member, asset owner/operator, technologist and active property tech investor.

Yat-Pang Au, CEO, Veritas Investments  

Yat‐Pang Au is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Veritas Investments Inc., one of the largest owner-operators of apartments in San Francisco with more than $3 billion in multi-family mixed-use assets under management.  Previously, Mr. Au served in executive positions at technology and services firms. He also has been a longtime private investor in apartment and retail properties located throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Au is committed to transforming San Francisco’s housing stock and revitalizing neighborhoods by providing innovative amenities and building eco-friendly, vibrant communities. Veritas is a vertically‐integrated multifamily investment manager and provides a full‐range of operational, management and leasing services.   

The starting point of Veritas’ growth story was in 2003 when Mr. Au bought his first building in San Francisco. By 2007 he was managing six buildings and Veritas Investments was born. In 2009, he was able to acquire a large portfolio owned by one of San Francisco’s most prominent real estate families. In early 2016, Veritas Investments closed financing on an $815 million portfolio, the largest transaction of its kind in San Francisco history. The deal was honored as 2016-17 Fund of the Year for Innovation by Real Estate Finance magazine. Veritas Investments is now the largest owner-operator of apartments in the City with more than 5,000 units and associated retail commercial space.

Mr. Au is an Advisory Board Member of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics and a Board Member of two nonprofits he is passionate about ‐ Self Help for the Elderly and International Technological University. He is an active member of Coalition for Better Housing, San Francisco Apartment Association, Bay Area Council, National Multi Housing Council, Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), Urban Land Institute (ULI), and Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). He was the Campaign Chair of the 2016 Silver Spur Awards of the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Center and received the 2018 Spirit of Life Award in the Northern California Real Estate Council’s campaign supporting the City of Hope national cancer research hospital.

Roelof Opperman, Principal, Fifth Wall  

Roelof Opperman is a Principal at Fifth Wall, a Los Angeles-based venture capital fund. Previously, Roelof worked at Norwest Venture Partners where he was part of the Growth Equity team, focusing on investments in SaaS and enterprise software, cloud and IT infrastructure, internet, and technology-enabled business services sectors. He was actively involved with Norwest’s investments in Avetta, Medgate, and Infutor. Roelof was also a member of the deal team that completed Medgate’s acquisitions of regAction and IQS. Before joining Norwest, Roelof was a Senior Analyst with Evercore Partners’ Technology investment banking group based in Menlo Park. He previously worked at Goldman Sachs and Bridgewater Associates. Roelof is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, from Emory University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Guy Zipori, CEO, Skyline AI

Guy Zipori, co-founder and CEO of Skyline AI, is a serial tech entrepreneur, who mastered code at 14, and founded his first tech company at 16.  In 2017, Guy and his partners co-founded Skyline AI, an artificial intelligence asset manager for commercial real estate. Prior to Skyline AI, Guy co-founded and served as CEO of SteamRail which was acquired by ironSource in 2016. Before SteamRail, Guy co-founded and operated as CTO for Visionize, which was acquired by AVG Technologies (NYSE: AVG) in 2011. Subsequently, he continued to lead the engineering of AVG post-acquisition, developing products used by 187 million active users, generating over $160 million in annual revenue.
